Dominican Republic Airports

We recommend flying into the Puerto Plata (POP) airport due to its proximity to our beachfront villa, slightly more than one hour away. Airports & Airlines

The other airports are Los Cajuiles at La Romana, Punta Cana International on the far eastern tip of the island, the International Airport of Barahona, and the Santiago de los Caballeros Airport. There is also a small airport on the Isla Saona for very small airplanes. Only three major airports, the main one in Santo Domingo, and those in Santiago and Puerto Plata, receive regular scheduled commercial flights with major airlines, while those of La Romana and Punta Cana are mainly served by chartered flights.

Seven international airports service the Dominican Republic, with an eighth one almost completed near Samana. The international airport we recommend above all others due to its proximity (1 ½ hours) to our villa is Puerto Plata (POP), called La Unión International. Another option is to fly into the Santiago del los Caballeros Airport (STI), which is a tad over 2 hours away. Flying into Santiago is super cheap when you use JetBlue from JFK airport in New York.

Finally, you can also fly into Santo Domingo (SDQ), Las Américas International Airport, but please be prepared for a 3 hour drive (minimum) to get to the villa.

Most of the major airlines fly directly into the Dominican Republic's various international airports. Even if your favorite airline is not listed below, call your travel agent and check to see if the airline has recently begun flying to the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is fast becoming one of the most desirable Caribbean vacation destinations!
